셀탕 씁쓸한 라이벌 : 그라나다

If we are talking about a game with a lot of bad feelings on it, that could as well be the match Celta is set to play this next Sunday in Granada.

This particular team does not bring good memories to Celta, as two seasons ago, both teams were paired to fight for promotion into La Liga. That particular season had been like a Rollercoaster for Celta, who could not win a game in the last 2 months of competition. This bad strike started with Celta being leader of the league with 10 games left, and ended up with Celta finishing 5th and fighting for the promotion on a play off.

This match up seemed really exciting, but Celta was not in a good spirit due to all the bad results they had been achieving as for late. Celta played the first game with a lot of heart, and had some realy good chances to sentence the play off, but it seemed like the players had weights on their feet, probably due to a long exhausting season. The support from the crowd lifted Celta , and managed to ern a victory 1-0, and all was pending on the game to be played in Granada.

During that week some Grnada players and supporters started to heat up the game, talking a lot of trash on the media, in a very disrespectful way. The tension could have been cut with a knife just before the referee whistled the kick off. The players did not contribute at all to have a clean game, and players were playing continuously playing past the rules.

A sole goal by Orellana tied the play off, and after the extra time, the eliminatory was still tied. Panalty shoots were set to be taken, and Michu, who now plays for Swansea, missed his penalty shooting the ball over the goal.

All the trash talk that lead to the game, and the way some players celebrated their victory lighted up the fire, that was soon solved after talking the players to the dressing room, but still the bitterness remains in most of Celta’s players that played the play off. More bitterness is held by Celta’s supporters, who still don’t forgive Granada for their behavior during the match-ups.
