Celta lost to Almeria in the first leg of their match up with Almeria by 2-0. Despite controlling most of the game, Celta was unable to shot at goal more than once during the whole game. This lack of power on the attacking line ballasted Celta during the entire 90 minutes.

Despite the fact that referee influenced the game by not sanctioning Almeria’s keeper penalty  to Quique De Lucas, which would have meant Almeria’s player sent off, Celta could not prove his theoretical superiority over a lower division rival.

Celta presented a starting line-up with all reserve players, including Park Chu Young who ad not been a starter for the last games, and had his opportunity to shine in this game, and give Paco Herrera reasons to play him in Celta’s next games. Park could not meet the expectations, and played a low profile game, being unable to connect with the rest of his team mates for the whole 90 minutes. He had a couple of good plays, but either the keeper or bad timing when connecting with De Lucas, prevented Celta from taking anything out of those plays.

The King’s Cup match-up with Almeria is bringing some fresh air to Celta Squad, as those players with less or none minutes played in the league will have their opportunity to prove wrong Celta’s Coach. And Herrera is wishing that to happen, in the press conference, he admitted that all those players with fewer minutes will be having their chance, and that he wishes them to shine on Wednesday to give him more trouble when deciding who should play in the league.

All the 21 players available will be travelling to Almeria plus two players from the Academy, Levy Madinda (Central Midfielder) and Johny Otto (Right Defender, who has already played against Osasuna in the league) with both players with high chances to have some minutes. Natxo Insa’s injury has forced Herrera to call the Gabon International, and one of Celta’s Academy pearls.

Herrera also admitted this is a very special match-up, as Almeria is one of the top teams in the second division, with a philosophy of play very similar to Celta’s. But not only will that, the winner of this eliminatory, face the winner of Alcoyano vs Real Madrid, so the motivation is a little bit higher.

Celta completed the recovery training session with no incidents. All players but Natxo Insa were available for Celta’s Coach, and as usual, starters completed a jogging session and a stretching routine before heading into the dressing room.

As usual on Sunday’s sessions, the team spent 30 minutes in the dressing room getting instructions from Hererra and talking about yesterday’s game. There is a lot to review because Celta could not find himself in the field, and until the team was one man down, Celta did not control the game.

Undiano Mallenco’s decisions clearly favoured Deportivo, ater applying different rules to both teams. Park’s time at Celta has been a rollercoaster since day 1. After just one training session he had to leave on international duty to play with Korea, leaving him without being at Vigo until two days before the game against Valencia. He debuted that game on a grey day for him, as he could barely touch the ball more than once.

With one week of full training, he played as a reserve against Getafe, coming out to score Celta’s winner on the first ball he touched as a Celta player in Balaidos. That was the peak of his career in La Liga, and showed what the Korean star can do. He nearly scored a second goal in a brilliant effort, but his shot was a little bit wide. That performance left Celta fans with the desire of more from the Korean star.
