There was a
great ambience in the derby, but the referee decided to be the main actor in
yesterday’s game. Undiano Mallenco’s decisions clearly favoured Deportivo, ater
applying different rules to both teams. In a Derby were both teams were leaving
everything on the field, the referee’s decision to sent off Cabral conditioned
the game, as Celta Coach, Paco Herrera, was forced to add a new Central
Defender to the team, replacing Mario Bermejo for debutant Samuel Llorca. This decision
affected Park chances to have some more minutes in the game, as Paco Herrera’s
original idea was to replace Bermejo by Park in the second half, but the formation
went from a 4-4-2 to a 4-4-1 after Cabral’s sent off.

Curiously in the
second half, and after Cabral’s sent off, Celta started dominating the game,
with Alex Lopez, MKD and Alex Lopez leading the efforts. Specially Hugo Mallo
and Alex Lopez, both Galician and with a good sense of what a derby means, did
carry the team the whole game. But referee’s unfairness sanctioning the fouls,
let Deportivo play with 11 man until the end of the game, when they should have
had at least two players sent off, Ze Castro with a double yellow card, and
Carlos Marchena for elbowing Iago Aspas in the head.
But despite a
dreadful scenario for Celta, they managed to not only control the game, but
also to create the best chances of the game. Iago Aspas had the goal in his
boots, but again his shot went inches wide when all Celta fans were already
celebrating the goal. The referee also invalidated a Celta goal for offside by
Andres Tunez, but the international for Venezuela seemed to be in a valid
position, and brilliantly headed the ball to the back of the net.
Chu Young Park
came into the pitch with just ten minutes to play, and touched the ball three
times, but at that stage of the game, Celta was not dominating the ball and was
not able to recover the ball quickly to take advantage of Deportivo’s free
spaces.
Obviously the
situation was not the best for Park, with just ten men on the field and
defending the result or the last 8 minutes. Park will have his chance against
Almeria to prove he has his goal scoring capacity intact. A good display in
Almeria will surely boost the Korean striker confidence.
Bo traballo!!
