Weather seemed to give Celta a truce as there
was no rain or mist today, as Celta prepared his match against Lugo this morning.
As planned the team got into the field 30
minutes past 10 am , and after a brief talk from Celta’s coach,
they started training with a soft jogging session. As the main goal is still
been refurbished, and Varas is still out, there was no shooting today at the
session, and Herrera concentrated their efforts in the physical part.
But not all was going to be without touching
the ball, so Paco Herrera scheduled a passing routine with three different
variations, introduced every 8 minutes. As the field was really fast due to
humidity, Herrera asked his players to give tension and precision to their
passes, and so did the players.
Goalkeepers Sergio Alvarez and Ruben Blanco are
set to be the two goalkeepers available for tomorrow’s game, and the entire
Celta universe wants to see young Ruben Blanco play some more minutes after
playing some time against Atletico de Madrid in a preseason friendly game.
Ruben has been touted as the best U19 Goalkeeper in Spain , and is a regular starter on both
Celta B Team (third division) and Spain U19. This summer a possible move to Manchester City was on the air, but it is sure he
has attracted the attention of powerful teams.
Finally Andres Tunez qon’t have to travel to
Venezuela for the international games Venezuela are set to play as he still has
pain on the abdomen, and, therefore, has been ruled out of those games. He will
stay in Vigo with Physiotherapy. He confirmed this on the training center, where he
stated “I hope to recover as soon as possible. It was better for me not to do
the trip.”
Another two players tht did not train today due
to injuries are Toni Rodríguez and Quique De Lucas. Both have been having
troube with injuries on the past weeks, and have been taking some time off
working on the gym and with the physiotherapist. Although they have not been
rulled out for tomorrow’s game against CD Lugo, it seems very difficult to see
them on the field for that game.
The fresh news were brought by the presence of
7 youngsters from the Academy team, who were called up due to all the absences
Celta has this week: MKD, Tunez, Park, De Lucas, Varas and Toni. For some of
this youngsters is the first time training with the first team, and they really
looked excited with this opportunity.
Let's go Celta :D
