LIVE THE CELTA EXPERIENCE
by Rainmaker 18

If you are planning a visit to Vigo to see Park’s Games, here is a guide on what to expect. I’ll start with the beginning of the trip:

Arrival to Vigo
My guess is that all of you will be arriving by plane, and there are several options regarding this matter. Vigo has got an airport that is very well communicated with Madrid or Barcelona, so if your arrival airport in Spain is one of those, it will be very simple to be able to get a ticket to Vigo.

Other international airports near by are:
Santiago: still in Spain, Santiago is the most important international airport in Galicia, with connections all over the world. It is about 1 hour driving from Vigo, but transportation can be arranged.
Porto: in Portugal,, with better connections than Santiago, but a little bit further away, about 1 hour and 30 minutes driving from Vigo. Like in Santiago, transportation can be arranged.

These two options are more suitable for groups, as I can arrange transportation in a small bus from those two destinations.

Accommodation
There are few 5 stars hotels in Vigo, but plenty 4 stars hotels where you can go in Vigo. The list can be very big, so if you are arranging something from Korea, and you want to know about a particular hotel, don’t hesitate to contact me on mendiguren@mundo-r.com.
If you are coming in a group, it will be easy to get a better price for all of you, so if you are coming in a group and want me to check if I can get an special price, please let me know as well.
Moving around Vigo
If you chose the right hotel, you can be just in Vigo city center, and spend your spare time shopping and walking around a beautiful city. El Principe, the main shop street in Vigo, has all the brands you may want to see, and is perfect to spend an afternoon. There are plenty of Shopping Centers in Vigo, but the atmosphere of walking on Principe Street on a busy day is beautiful.

Next to Principe is the old part of the town. In there you could see the evolution of Vigo from a fisherman city to an industrial lung for Galicia, and the engine of Galicia’s economy. There are plenty of restaurants and shops in this area and the recently open shopping center in Vigo.

It’s Celta time
My guess will be that you will be coming to both training session and games. Regarding this matter there is something that you need to know. In Spain you don’t know the date and time of a game until 2 or most 3 weeks ago, so it’s difficult to predict if a game will be on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. As an example, notice that next Celta game at home against Sevilla will be played on Friday at 9:30 pm Spanish time. Bear that in mind when you book your trip.
In the case the match is played at home, you will have to have this in mind, the days before the match, the training session is a closed doors session, so only media can access and just for 20 minutes.
Most training sessions take place at the training center, and to these sessions, all supporters can access. They usually train since the day after the last game, until the day before (this last day usually is a closed doors session. The usual times to start is 10:30 am, but if you would like to see the players before, it’s better to be there at least at 9:30 am. Expect to see the players get into the dressing room, and you can ask for autographs with no problem, even to Park.
You can also talk to the players after the session is over, when they go to their cars. They will be glad to take photos with you and sign autographs.
It is easier to access the players on weekdays, and there are not so many people.
As I come to every single session, I’ll be glad to take you in my car, but I am working during the training, so I won’t be able to explain you too many things, but I’ll do my best.

GAMES
This year La Liga has scheduled games at almost any time during the weekend, so it is very difficult to predict a time for the game. Tickets can be bought online, but we may be able to arrange something with Celta in order to get the best seats possible. Best views are from Tribuna, Rio Bajo and Rio Alto, any seats in this part of the stadium guarantees good atmosphere and vision.
You should be on the stadium about 1 hour prior to the match, so you will feel the atmosphere and get into game mood. Gates usually open about 1 hour before the match, and players start warming up about 30 minutes before the game starts.
After the game it is very difficult to access the players for supporters, as they usually get into the bus directly after the match.
The best moment to be able to access the players and talk to them is either before or after training.

IMPORTANT:
If you are coming to Vigo have in mind I am here to give you a hand, count on me on anything that you may need, and let me be your guide while you are enjoying some Celta Time.
