Only six days
left for Celta’s game against Real Madrid, and this morning spirits could not
be higher. The sun was shining and players were getting ready for the session.
Most of them were having breakfast at the cafeteria and they were laughing and
smiling all the way.
But this weekend
the international matches had brought nothing but bad news for Real Madrid as
two of his internationals had suffered severe injuries and will be side-lined
for several weeks. Both man, Marcelo and Fabio Coentrao, left defenders,
leaving Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho with the need to come up with a B plan
that will probably involve Alvaro Arbeloa playing on the left side, Ramos
playing as a right defender, same position he has played his whole career at
Real Madrid, until half season last year. But the problems will come to decide
which the two central defenders will be. Pepe seems like he has one of the
spots secured, but Rafael Varane and Spain World Champion, Raul Albiol will be
fighting for the other place in the defence. Although Albiol seems in better
shape, Jose Mourinho seems to have eyes only for the Frenchman.
But this are not
the only bad news for Real Madrid, as two other players suffered minor injuries
that had not stop them from staying with their nationals teams, Sergio Ramos
and Sami Khedira, both with muscles problems. Their participation in the game
against Celta will depend on whether they participate in Spain and Germany’s
next game. The lack of Central defenders
in Spain will probably force Vicente del Bosque to play with the player from
Sevilla, and his condition on his arrival to Madrid on Wednesday will probably
be key to determine whether he will be able to play or not. But again, the lack
of side defenders in Real Madrid will probably make necessary the presence of
Ramos.
Celta on the
other hand resumed training with all their players but Michael Krohn Dehli and
Park, who will play tomorrow against Italy and Iran respectively, and even
Andres Tunez and Javi Varas worked normally with the rest of the players, with
the goalkeeper doing the normal routine for the first time since the Sevilla
game.
The training
session was mainly focused on passing and stealing, but mainly in passing game,
as Paco Herrera knows that they need to move the ball quickly to prevent Real
Madrid from dominating the game.
